2010 Charity Golf Tournament

Union Hospital Golf Tournament raises more than $30,000

Another great year for golf!

Elkton, Md. (September 22, 2010) –Union Hospital’s 15th Annual Golf Tournament was held on Friday September 17, 2010 at The Newark Country Club under perfect weather conditions.  172 players took part in the two session shotgun event raising more than $29,000 for Union Hospital. 

During the 18 holes of golf, players competed for longest and straightest drive for men and women and Hole in One Prizes on all Par 3’s provided by Lexus of Wilmington.  Additionally, two lucky players, male and female closest to the pin, had a chance to shoot a hole in one for $1 million!  Mrs. Philomena Najera playing with the DaVinci Group and Mr. Rich DeCosta playing with DeCosta Construction made a valiant effort to win $1 million.

At the awards reception and banquet tournament winners were announced as players enjoyed the best tournament seafood buffet in the county.  The top fifteen teams were awarded prizes such as Tour Edge Fairway Woods, four rounds of golf at various golf courses, electronic range finders, Callaway golf sunglasses, a tailgate spot at the Fair Hill Races, and much more. The winning team was sponsored by Delmarva Power. The players including:
