Who will be Union Hospital’s First Chef Challenge Champion?
Elkton, Md. (January 27, 2010) – The Union Hospital Foundation will hold its first Chef Challenge on Friday, March 26 at the Rising Sun Banquet Hall from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The event, named “Cecil’s Cookin’,” invites guests to participate in taste testing, judging and entertainment – while supporting the Union Hospital’s Breast Health Center.
The Union Hospital Foundation’s Chef Challenge has attracted four chefs who have committed to raising a minimum of $2,000 each for the new digital mammography equipment at Union Hospital. Chef Steve Creswell with Buck’s Restaurant and Blue Marlin, Inc., Chef Anthony Harvey with the Nauti Goose Saloon, Executive Chef Christian R. Lackford with Chesapeake Inn Restaurant & Marina, and Chef Paul O’Toole with Deerfield Golf & Tennis Club will battle for the title of Union Hospital’s Chef Challenge Champion.
The competition will be kept simple. A maximum of five chefs will compete by preparing three unique dishes that incorporate key ingredients. Each Chef will prepare hors d’oeuvres size portions for each attendee. The tasting will take place in three rounds based on the key ingredient; Round One – puff pastry, Round Two – portabella mushrooms and Round Three – Cranberries.
After each round attendees and judges will vote for their favorite dish based on taste, use of the key ingredient and presentation. The first, second and third place winners will be announced at the end of the event.
Tickets are being sold for $75.00 per person and space is limited to 125 attendees. Sponsorship opportunities are also still available. Visit www.uhccfoundation.org or call (410) 620-3709 for more information and to register today.
Persons who cannot attend, but wish to support this event and the Union Hospital Breast Health Center can make a donation on behalf of their favorite chef(s). The chef who raises the most money will receive extra points towards their final score. Visit www.uhccfoundation.org/Register to make a donation.
