Union Hospital to Host 14th Annual Twilight Charity Ball
Event Invites Guests to Have Fun Under the Tuscan Sun
Elkton, Md. (October 20, 2009) – The Union Hospital Foundation will hold its 14th annual Twilight Charity Ball on Saturday, November 21 at the Deerfield Golf and Tennis Club in Newark, Del from 6:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The event, themed “Under the Tuscan Sun,” invites guests to participate in a memorable evening of dinner, dancing and entertainment, Tuscan-style.
The highlight of the evening will follow dinner as guests participate in a live auction. Ten exciting packages will be available on the itinerary for bid. Toes in the Sand, Relax Inn, Go for Par, and Going in Style are just a few examples of the packages for the auction which will include items such as a one week stay in Florida, jewelry, and various tickets and certificates to enhance the recipients’ local travels.
Following the live auction, raffle and door prize winners will be announced. One lucky guest will win a PASSPORT to the Penthouse at La Siesta in St. Maarten. The PASSPORTS will be sold the night of the event for $25.00 each and will include a small gift with the purchase. One PASSPORT will contain the winning ticket for the St. Maarten destination. The Union Hospital Charity Ball Committee will also be giving away a number of other gifts to attendees who have purchased PASSPORTS in appreciation of their support.
Twilight Charity Ball guests will also be in a unique position to help raise funds for the purchase of digital mammography equipment for Union Hospital’s Breast Health Center.
“Digital mammography technology is not only essential to early detection, but it helps to shorten study time and enhances the images that are reviewed by our radiologists,” said Laurie Fitzgerald, nursing administrator for the Breast Health Center. “The Union Hospital Breast Health Center is focused on saving lives, and we appreciate all the support that we receive from our donors to help us obtain the equipment that will help us in that mission.”
This year a portion of the Twilight Charity Ball proceeds will benefit the Digital Mammography Fund. Union Hospital has committed to the purchase of this equipment, an investment of more than $700,000. Twilight Charity Ball guests will contribute to this great cause.
Twilight Charity Ball tickets are available at the Silver Level for $150 and at the Gold Level with preferred seating for $250. Platinum Tables with preferred seating for eight are available for $2,500 each. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.
“Union Hospital remains dedicated to advancing public health, including breast health, and we deeply appreciate the loyalty of our supporters, particularly in such a challenging economic environment,” said Danielle Mackie, special events coordinator for Union Hospital. “The Union Hospital Charity Ball Committee is working hard to ensure that we deliver an extraordinary event in their honor.”
